Man charged after 3yo boy dies in crash

A man has been charged after a three-year-old boy died in a car crash north of Tamworth late last year.

In mid-December, a ute was travelling on the New England Highway at Moonbi when it left the road and hit a tree.

The three-year-old boy, who was in a back seat, died at the scene. The 24-year-old driver was airlifted to Tamworth Hospital with minor injuries.

Following inquiries, the Oxley Vale Man was charged on Tuesday with dangerous driving occasioning death and negligent driving occasioning death.

He was bailed to appear in Tamworth Local Court in June. His licence was suspended.
