Terror charges over alleged racial violence posts in NSW

Online posts allegedly linked to a man in northern NSW have led to terror-related charges following a search warrant.

An investigation began after posts allegedly promoting racially motivated and violent extremist ideology were reported to police.

The NSW Joint Counter Terrorism Team carried out a search warrant on Wednesday at a home in Ocean Shores in the Northern Rivers region of the state.

Investigators seized a mobile phone at the property.

They allegedly found material advocating online for people to commit acts of terrorism, as well as suspected violent extremist material.

Investigators also allegedly located a number of weapons and ammunition.

A 20-year-old man was charged with terror and weapon offences and appeared in court yesterday, where he was refused bail.

He will next appear in court on September 18.
