Man 'assaulted with bat' in Sydney's west
A man has been bashed with a baseball bat in Sydney's west.
Emergency services were called to a home in Smithfield about 10.20pm on Sunday after reports the 37-year-old had been assaulted with a blunt object, possibly a bat, police said on Monday.
"Police have been told six men left the scene in a grey Toyota Corolla," a NSW Police spokeswoman said.
The victim was taken to Liverpool Hospital with non-life threatening injuries to his head and neck, with reports he was assaulted by his brother-in-law over unpaid rent.
Relatives described how the victim hid under a vehicle before a passer-by found him and called paramedics.
"I honestly don't even know how he even thought to go into the car because I would have just ran," one relative told the Nine Network on Monday.
"But he knew knew to just get under that vehicle."
