Man arrested for pointing laser at chopper

A man has been charged with allegedly pointing a laser at a NSW Police helicopter at Werrington, in Sydney's west.
Just after 8.30pm on Saturday, a PolAir helicopter was assisting St Marys police with an unrelated incident when a laser beam was directed at the crew from the vicinity of Victoria Street.
St Marys police located a 31-year-old man on the balcony of a unit block allegedly shining a laser pointer towards the sky.

The man was arrested and charged with possessing a prohibited weapon without a permit and doing an act to threaten the safety of an aircraft/persons on board.
He was granted bail to appear in Penrith Local Court on August 21.
