Man allegedly stopped with loaded shotgun

A passenger in a utility pulled over by police on a western Sydney street was allegedly hiding a loaded shotgun.

The 23-year-old was riding in the ute when it was stopped by officers on Braddon Street at Oxley Park about 7am on Monday.

During a search of the vehicle, they allegedly found a loaded pump-action shotgun in the passenger's side footwell.

The man was arrested and taken to Nepean Hospital suffering a medical condition.

After being discharged, he was charged at Penrith Police Station with possessing a loaded firearm in a public place and other firearm-related offences.

He was refused bail and will appear at Penrith Local Court on Tuesday.
