The weather bureau has issued five flood warnings for NSW rivers.

Residents in the NSW town of Canowindra, near the Belubula River, are in the eye of the storm, with a major flood warning issued.

Up to 27mm of rain has fallen in the region, west of Orange, since 5pm Tuesday and more is expected until at least Wednesday night, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.

The SES says some roads could be closed depending on how much rain falls.
