Lightning strike kills teen on NSW beach

A teenage boy has died after he was struck by lightning on a NSW beach.

The 15-year-old was at the water's edge at One Mile near Port Stephens, when he was struck just after 5pm.

Emergency crews rushed to his aid but the boy died at the scene.

"Witnesses have told police that the teen was struck by lightning as he came out of the water at the beach," a police statement said.
