Pilot fighting for life after light plane crashes into paddock on NSW Southern Highlands

A pilot is in a critical condition with multiple injuries after a light plane crashed into a paddock on the NSW Southern Highlands.

Emergency services responded to reports of a plane crash at Medway Road in Berrima, located around 130 kilometres from Sydney, shortly after 7.45am today.

A man aged in his 50s, believed to be the single occupant of the Hornet STOL aircraft, was left trapped in the wreckage.

The pilot remains in a critical condition following the crash. 9News

Paramedics treated him at the scene for hip and leg injuries.

The man has since been airlifted to Liverpool Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) confirmed that it is aware of the accident, however the bureau does not investigate crashes involving recreational aircraft.
