Kings Cross identity arrested

Kings Cross identity Bill Bayeh has reportedly been charged with resisting arrest after he allegedly tried to tear up a piece of paper requested by police.

The former "King of the Cross" was drinking with friends at the Five Boroughs bar on Darlinghurst Road when police called him outside, News Corp Australia reports.

A NSW Police spokesman said a 56-year-old man was stopped and searched in Kings Cross about 7.45pm on Thursday.

They would not confirm the man's identity.

"(He) allegedly attempted to destroy a piece of paper located by the officers," the spokesman said.

He then struggled with police before being handcuffed.

The man is due to face Downing Centre Local Court on March 3 charged with hindering police and resisting arrest.
