Kids charged over attempted car robbery

Five balaclavas-clad youngsters, some as young as 12, have allegedly tried to steal a woman's car while she was driving in the NSW Central Tablelands.

A 12-year-old girl and four boys, aged between 12 and 15, allegedly stood in the middle of a Bathurst road and blocked the car's path before trying to break into the vehicle on Monday night, police said.

One of the children even jumped on the bonnet of car, while the 20-year-old driver called Triple-Zero.

The children were arrested and granted conditional bail to appear in a children's court next month charged with demanding property in company and menacing with intent to steal.
