In the first version given to police on September 24, 2013, Kelsall says he had briefly encountered Morgan Huxley at a convenience store in Ben Boyd Road opposite the Oaks Hotel in Neutral Bay on September 8, 2013.

He later walked along Military Road to the Sydney Cook School where he worked to see if he had left the light on.

He said he noticed Mr Huxley walking in the same direction, but Kelsall diverted down Cheal Lane towards his workplace before going home and did not go to his victim's flat.

"I THINK I AM THE REASON WHY HE WAS MURDERED"

Following the verdict on Wednesday, it was revealed that two days after his first interview with police, Kelsall calls detectives and says "Well, I wasn't telling the entire truth".

In a conversation at Woolworths car park in Neutral Bay, Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Dukes and plain clothes Senior Constable Iain Adcock said Kelsall tells them another version.

"I started talking to (Mr Huxley) and he was like upset and depressed so I said to him can I cheer you up ... I started to give him head and he fell asleep," Kelsall allegedly said.

"I left, I went down the stairs out the front door and I didn't lock it ... I think I am the reason why he was murdered.

"When I was leaving there was a woman coming towards his unit and she saw me coming out."

"TERRIFIED, I GOT UP AND RAN"

On March 16, 2015, Kelsall tells his Supreme Court trial that he and Mr Huxley struck up a conversation while he was walking home from work and the businessman was returning to his Neutral Bay flat after a drink at the nearby Oaks Hotel about 1.30am on September 8.

Within around five minutes of meeting, Kelsall said the 31-year-old had invited him to his flat and shortly after that they were in Mr Huxley's bedroom.

"He (Mr Huxley) turned off the lights and he immediately dropped his pants."

Kelsall told the court that he was fondling Mr Huxley's penis, "Then something hit me in the side of the head. It really hurt ... I kind of looked up and there was another person in the room.

"Terrified, I got up and ran."
