Jury still out for NSW shop fire deaths

The family of a mother and baby killed in a Sydney shop explosion face an anxious weekend wait after a jury failed to return a verdict on their alleged murderer.

The NSW Supreme Court jury convicted Adeel Ahmad Khan on Friday of deliberately setting his shop alight in September 2014 and murdering 27-year-old Chris Noble, who lived above the shop and perished in the blaze.

However the jury was unable to agree whether Khan was also guilty of the murders of 31-year-old Bianka O'Brien and her baby son Jude, who also died in the fire.

They will continue their deliberations next week, after Monday's public holiday.
