Jury deliberates at Sydney murder trial

A jury is deliberating at the trial of a Sydney man accused of murdering his friend who was shot dead late on the night of his 45th birthday.

Gazi Safarjalani, 37, has pleaded not guilty in the NSW Supreme Court to murdering his former coffee-shop partner, Bill Panagakos, at an intersection on March 4, 2014.

His barrister told the jury, which retired on Wednesday, that Safarjalani saw the shooting but didn't tell police he was present, and that the victim associated with people "you might think may be dangerous".
