Inmate stabbed at Sydney prison

A Sydney prison that was raided last week amid revelations of mobile phone use among prisoners is in the spotlight again after an inmate was allegedly stabbed.

Emergency services found the 27-year-old with stab wounds to his hip, stomach and calf at Parklea Correctional Centre on Sunday morning.

He was taken to hospital in a stable condition.

Police have not yet confirmed the nature of the stabbing, or what weapon was used.

The correctional centre recently made headlines after prisoner Wesam Hamze, who's linked to street gang Brothers 4 Life, allegedly posted pictures to his Instagram site and used a mobile phone to post comments about guards allegedly sneaking in drugs and tobacco.

The revelation prompted dawn raids at the prison last week, where a shiv and two mobile phones were seized.
