Inmate escapes through ceiling of NSW jail

A prisoner is on the run after escaping through the ceiling of a minimum security jail in the NSW Northern Tablelands.

Richard Norrie, 33, was reported missing after failing to show up to the Tuesday morning muster at the Glen Innes Correctional Centre.

"I think he climbed up through a ceiling," a Corrective Services spokeswoman told AAP on Tuesday.

Norrie, who is Caucasian with black hair, medium build, and 171cm tall, was present at the Monday afternoon muster, she said.
