'I'm gonna wake up from this': Brenda Lin
The Nine Network has repeated a 2009 interview with the sole surviving member of the Lin family and niece of convicted murderer Robert Xie in which she says she would wake up thinking her family's murder was just a nightmare.
Brenda Lin was in New Caledonia on a school trip when Xie bludgeoned her parents, two brothers and an aunt to death in their Sydney home in the early hours of July 18, 2009.
She spoke to Nine a month later and the Network repeated the interview on Tuesday night, a week after Xie was sentenced to life in prison.
"When I first found out I was really devastated. I couldn't believe what was happening," she said in August, 2009.
"I'd think, 'Oh yeah, I'm gonna wake up from this. I know tomorrow morning it'll be fine. Everything will be fine.'"
