Hunt for man after 8 women hit in Sydney

Police are looking for a man who went on a random punching spree in Sydney's CBD hurting eight women.

Three women were assaulted in Wynyard Park just before 2pm on Thursday afternoon, police say.

They ran into a nearby hotel to alert police.

As police were searching for the man he assaulted another two women in Shelley Street.

Then two more women reported being punched by a man in George Street at about 3.30pm.

At 6.30pm another woman who was talking on her mobile phone in Bent Street was punched in her face.

All women suffered bruising but did not require further medical attention.

The man is thought to be in his 30s or 40s. He is described as tall, of thin build, dark skin and possibly with a dark beard. When last seen the man was wearing white pants or overalls, a white hooded jumper and a blue and white striped vest.
