House fire warning after NSW cold snap

Residents are being urged to remember to switch off their electrical devices after more than 70 home fires in NSW since the cold snap hit on the weekend.

"Home fires in the cooler months are often far more serious and are more likely to result in injuries and deaths," Fire & Rescue NSW Acting Commissioner Jim Smith said.

Authorities have asked people to make sure they turn off heaters, dryers, electric blankets and other electrical devices.
