A NSW man has been charged with serious firearms offences after a police raid uncovered a cache of guns and ammunition, including an Uzi semi-automatic pistol and a home-made sniper rifle with silencer.

The organised crime squad and riot police raided a house in the small NSW town of Tahmoor on Thursday afternoon and allegedly found the weapons, which also included a World War Two machine gun, a home-made silencer and a large amount of ammunition.

A 60-year-old man was charged with numerous firearms and a drug offence. He was refused bail to appear before Campbelltown Local Court on Friday.
