Syd teens attack patrol officers: police

A group of teenagers who allegedly left three highway patrol officers injured during a random breath test in Sydney's west are due to face court.

One senior constable suffered a broken nose while the other two patrol officers have sprained wrists or hands.

The officers were conducting an RBT in Blacktown early on Thursday morning when one of them issued a 17-year-old P-plate driver with infringements notices for exceeding his passenger restrictions, police say.

It's alleged the teenage boy threw the notices away before assaulting the officer.

Two other teenagers in his car joined in on the attack, and also assaulted two constables who came to help, police said.

The trio, aged 18, 17 and 16, were arrested and charged with several offences including assaulting police and are due to face court next month.

The three male senior constables were taken to Blacktown Hospital for precautionary medical checks and have since been discharged to recover at home.
