Grenade found at Sydney home

A grenade has been found in a Sydney back yard, with the military being called in to deal with it.

The grenade was found buried in the back garden of a home on High St, Edgecliff, in Sydney's east, soon after 11am on Saturday.

The street was closed before army specialists were called in to deal with the unexploded ordinance, a police spokeswoman said.

"It looks like someone dug it up," the spokeswoman said.

The street has since reopened. No charges are expected to be laid.
