Dramatic grass fire in Sydney's west

NSW firefighters have extinguished an out-of-control grassfire at Jamisontown, near Penrith, in Sydney's west.

The fire started late this afternoon at Blaikie Rd, Jamisontown. It quickly got out of control, flames several metres high leading the fire front.

By evening, the fire had spread across 3ha.

NSW Fire and Rescue warned drivers on the M4 and Mulgoa Rd that smoke may effect visibility.

Later, the Rural Fire Service reported it would remain on scene to monitor, but there had been no damage to property or injuries to people.
