Goods train derails, closes Vic highway
AAP
A goods train has derailed at Lilydale Station, about 50km northeast of Melbourne, closing the Maroondah Highway.
Police say the highway is expected to be closed throughout the morning peak and urged motorists to avoid the area.
Drivers travelling west are asked to take Anderson Street, onto Gardener Road then take Cavehill Road and rejoin Maroondah Highway, while travellers heading east should reverse the detour route.
