A teenage girl and three adults will face court over a river chase involving a stolen $2 million boat.

Police were called to Sans Souci in Sydney's south on Wednesday, after being notified by a man who saw his friend's $1.8 million, 52-foot cruiser on the George's river.

The owner of the boat is overseas.

Officers from Botany Bay Water Police found the motor cruiser being driven erratically along the river towards Captain Cook Bridge.

After catching up to the boat and boarding it, the officers allegedly located two men, a woman and a teenage girl but no one at the helm.

A 16-year-old girl was charged with taking and driving the boat and will appear in a children's court on Tuesday October 14.

A 20-year-old woman was also charged and bailed to appear in Kogarah Local Court on October 14.

Two men, 20 and 24, were charged over the illegal use of a motor vehicle, while the younger man was also charged with destroying or damaging property.

They were both refused bail to appear in Kogarah Local Court on Thursday.

The boat was returned to the wharf with only minor graffiti damage.
