Former minister Ian Macdonald must now face court over misconduct in office. (AAP) AAP

Corrupt former NSW Labor MP Ian Macdonald, who's been charged with misconduct in public office, is due to have his matter mentioned in a Sydney court.

The charges against the former Labor minister relate to his his alleged handling of a lucrative mining license at Doyles Creek in the Hunter Valley.

Ex-CFMEU official John Maitland is alleged to have earned $15 million out of his activities at Doyles Creek from a $165,000 investment and is also before the courts.

Neither of the men appeared at court last time their matters were listed.

Both have handed in their passports and agreed to stay away from witnesses as part of their bail conditions.

Macdonald's matter is due to be mentioned at the Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday.
