A man is in hospital after suffering smoke inhalation in a large blaze at Sydney's Olympic Park.

The fire broke out in the indoor Monster Skatepark at about 2.30pm on Friday and the man, aged in his 30s, was part of a group of people who evacuated the building, emergency services say.

A firefighter at the scene told AAP that some lighting in the roof of the building had caught alight.

It took about 70 firefighters to extinguish the blaze, which caused a plume of smoke to drift across the city's west.

The fire will not affect the NRL game between the Wests Tigers and the South Sydney Rabbitohs at ANZ Stadium on Friday night.

Sydney Olympic Park said all other events scheduled for the weekend were unaffected but that the Monster Skatepark would remain closed indefinitely.
