Fans of Aussie rock legend Stevie Wright have been invited to attend his public funeral in Sydney.

The lead singer of The Easybeats died in Moruya on the NSW south coast last month, aged 68, after falling ill with pneumonia.

Wright was known as Australia's first international rock star following the success of The Easybeats song Friday On My Mind, which hit the number one spot in Australia, number six in the UK and reached the top 20 in the US in the 1960s.

After the band broke up, the wild rock'n'roller known as Little Stevie, delivered two legendary rock albums of the 70s - Hard Road (1974) and Black-Eyed Bruiser (1975).

His funeral will be held at St Andrews Cathedral at 11am on Friday and is open to all family, friends and fans.

Wright's partner, Fay Walker and his son, Nick, from a previous marriage are expected to attend.
