'Fake gunman' behind bars in Sydney

A Sydney man who allegedly pulled a fake gun on another driver is also facing domestic violence charges, court documents show.

Police say Shannon Robinson, from Casula in the city's southwest, began tailgating another driver on Tuesday after being forced to brake suddenly in lunchtime traffic.

It's alleged the 30-year-old yelled abuse at the other motorist, Ronald Sharma, before pointing a black plastic replica pistol at him.

Robinson was arrested at his home and charged with dangerous driving, intimidation, assault and the unauthorised possession of a pistol.

Court papers reveal that he was also charged with assaulting and intimidating a family member, Wendy Robinson, after an alleged incident in October.

The charging officer refused Robinson bail, noting that he has a long history of violent offences, "an extensive criminal history and drug history", and has already spent years imprisoned.

Robinson remained behind bars after an appearance at Liverpool Local Court on Wednesday, and is next due to front court in December.
