Elderly man dies on NSW beach

An elderly man has died on a beach after being pulled from the ocean by surfers on the NSW mid north coast.

Surfers discovered the man floating in the water at Old Bar Beach, south of Taree, just after 7.30am on Friday.

The surfers pulled the man, thought to be in his 80s, to the beach and performed CPR, but he could not be revived, police say.
