Elderly man charged over NSW double fatal

An elderly man has been charged over a horrific crash which killed his passenger and another man in northwest NSW, police say.
The 83-year-old was driving along the New England Highway in Uralla on November 2 when he allegedly crashed into another car.
The 45-year-old driver of the other car died at the scene while his male passenger was airlifted to hospital for treatment.

The 85-year-old female passenger in the elderly man's car was also flown to hospital with extensive injuries but she later died.
The 83-year-old was charged with several offences on Monday including dangerous driving occasioning death and negligent driving occasioning death.
He is due to appear in Armidale Local Court on February 29.
