Elderly driver dies after NSW crash

An elderly man has died in hospital after his car ran off the road near Port Macquarie and hit a power pole.
Police say the 85-year-old was heading south in his sedan on Ocean Drive when he crashed just north of Lake Cathie, before 10am on Tuesday.
The driver, who was alone in the vehicle, was trapped until rescuers reached him.

The man was rushed to Port Macquarie Hospital in a critical condition but later died.
