Eddie Obeid due back in Sydney court on misconduct charges

Corrupt former NSW minister Eddie Obeid is expected to return to a Sydney court on Thursday.

Obeid is accused of making inducements to ex-Maritime NSW CEO Steve Dunn in return for extensions on leases for lucrative family-owned businesses in Sydney's Circular Quay in 2007.

Earlier this month Obeid, 71, was forced to surrender his passport to authorities after fears were raised he may fail to appear at future court dates.

Obeid has said he welcomed the opportunity to clear his name.

His matter is listed in the Downing Centre Local Court.
