Driver critical after fiery crash in NSW

A driver is fighting for his life after he became trapped in his car following a fiery collision with a semi-trailer in the Blue Mountains.

Police were called to the intersection of the Great Western Highway and Explorers Rd at Katoomba just after 11.30pm on Saturday after reports a semi-trailer had crashed with a car and caught alight.

The truck driver was unhurt but the man driving the car was trapped. He was freed by police and firefighters just after 1am on Sunday before being taken to Westmead Hospital, police said.
