Disabled woman sex trial continues in NSW

The trial of a supermarket worker accused of sex offences against an intellectually disabled woman is due to continue in NSW.

Swaroop Phatke, 33, has pleaded not guilty in the NSW District Court to 15 offences, one of which is an alternative, including counts of having non-consensual sex with the woman in aggravated circumstances.

Crown prosecutor Trevor Bailey said in his opening address on Tuesday that Phatke's sexual misconduct lasted months until early 2015 when a neighbour called police.

On one occasion, before forcing the woman to perform a sex act, Phatke is alleged to have told her "I am a man. I can do whatever I want to".

Defence lawyer Sam Pararajasingham said the allegations did not happen.

The trial is set to continue in Sydney on Wednesday.
