An off-duty police officer is alleged to have groped a woman at a Sydney music festival, court documents show.

Mitchell James Willey, 26, has been charged with indecent assault after dance music festival Defqon.1 at Sydney International Regatta Centre on September 16.

The constable was not in court on Tuesday when the matter was adjourned to Penrith Local Court on December 8.

The charge sheet alleges he grabbed the vulva of a woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons.

The Bankstown office of the police force's public transport unit is listed on court papers as the constable's address.

The 2017 edition of the annual one-day festival at Castlereagh was headlined by hardstyle electronic dance artists D-Block & S-te-Fan.
