Defunded NSW Islamic school open next term

Sydney Islamic school Malek Fahd says it will stay open next term, regardless of any public funding decisions.
Friday's announcement comes days after the Greenacre school lost a bid to overturn the federal government's decision in February to withdraw about $20 million in funding following concerns about how it was using the money.
The school would also seek re-registration and had made "good progress" towards meeting the government's strict funding requirements, according to interim board chairwoman Miriam Silva.
