Damaging winds to hit NSW coast
AAP
The coastal fringe of NSW is set to be buffeted by damaging winds thanks to a fast-moving low pressure system developing off the Illawarra coast.
Heavy surf and damaging winds of up to 70km/h, with peak gusts of 90km/h, are forecast on Friday for coastal parts of metropolitan Sydney, the Hunter, Central Coast and Illawarra.
The weather bureau has issued a severe weather warning although the low pressure system should start moving away on Friday night.
