NSW contract bribery claims prompt reviews

NSW Premier Mike Baird says he has serious concerns about an alleged bribery scandal involving a senior member of the Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority.

The female manager was stood down on Tuesday after it was alleged she pocketed $30,000 in kickbacks for contracts for services such as cleaning and pest control.

"I was obviously very concerned and the minister obviously did the right thing when he became aware of that yesterday afternoon," Mr Baird told reporters on Wednesday.

"We also need to understand what are the contracts that have been issued," he said.

The allegations arose as a result of a commercial dispute being heard in the NSW Supreme Court a day earlier.

NSW Minister for Finance, Services and Property Dominic Perrottet on Wednesday confirmed he was only made aware of the claims on Tuesday.

"These are serious allegations, and I have asked the department to investigate as a matter of urgency," he said in a statement.

"I have also asked the department to immediately review all and any contracts currently in place that relate to the allegations," he said.
