Clean-up after thunderstorms hit NSW

The clean-up continues after thunderstorms lashed parts of NSW.

The stormy weather swept over Sydney, the Illawarra, Hunter, mid-north coast and upper western and northern tablelands on Wednesday evening.

Strong winds and heavy rain brought down wires and trees and causing flooding and electrical fires.

The state emergency service responded to more than 350 calls, mainly around western and northern Sydney, and in the state's north at Tamworth.

A woman in the Macarthur area was reportedly struck by lightning outside a primary school.

Lightning strikes also caused fire when a TV antenna in Maitland and a house in Glenmore Park were hit.

Power lines were brought down in Newcastle and train signals were lost when lightning struck in Sydney's west at Granville.
