A young child was locked in a room for long periods at a NSW property where three adults were allegedly growing cannabis with a sophisticated hydroponics setup.

Three other children aged between one and nine years old were found at a property at Elands, northwest of Taree, last Friday, and have been taken into the care of NSW Family and Community Services

"At the home, police allegedly discovered a sophisticated hydroponics setup and seized 225 cannabis plants in various stages of maturity," police said.
