Boy who fell to his death at Sydney's QVB remembered as promising rugby player

Friends of a young school boy who slipped and fell inside Sydney's Queen Victoria Building, have paid tribute to the 13-year-old on social media.

Archie Hunt was with his family on Saturday afternoon, when he fell more than four storeys to his death, after attempting to slide down a hand rail.

He is being remembered as a promising rugby player and dedicated student.

A coronial inquiry into the death will take place after police returned to the building yesterday to assess the scene.

Investigators will also review CCTV footage of the incident which shows the young boy falling 30m from a railing on an upper level. He landed near a lift.

It is believed Archie was at the shopping centre with his parents and his sister when the accident occurred.

Witnesses said he was sliding along a stairwell railing on the Market Street side of the building when he lost his balance, slipped and fell just before 3pm.

He was rushed to Sydney Children's Hospital in a critical condition but died around 5.30pm as a result of severe head and chest injuries.

Police are still keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the fall in the busy shopping centre.
