A man will appear in a Sydney court on Monday charged with biting another man's fingertip off in a wild pub brawl.

The 42-year-old man was allegedly trying to steal handbags off a table at a Campbelltown bar when he was confronted by a 47-year-old man on Saturday night.

Police say an altercation broke out and the 47-year-old had the end of his finger bitten off. He was taken to Liverpool Hospital for treatment and has since been released.
