CCTV released after body found at vacant Newcastle property

Police have released CCTV as they attempt to piece together the final movements of a man found dead in the outskirts of Newcastle.

Shane Ryan’s body was discovered at a vacant property on Lake Road, Elermore Vale about 12.30pm on Wednesday, August 19.

Police have since identified Ryan and are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.

As part of the investigation, detectives have released CCTV showing Ryan at a hotel in nearby Singleton on Friday, July 31 – almost three weeks before his body was found.

The footage shows him wearing a Holden HSV racing jacket, blue jeans, and brown boots.

Ryan is described as being about 170cm tall and of medium build, with a bald head, grey goatee beard and green eyes.

Police are asking anyone who saw or had contact with him in the weeks before his death, or who has information about his movements, to contact Crime Stoppers.
