Casino at odds over Syd assaults trend
AAP
Sydney's Star Casino is at odds with the official crime statistics over which way assault trends are heading.
The Pyrmont venue says assaults plunged from 64 to 52 last year, despite the NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research (BOCSAR) recording 75 assaults at The Star in 2014.
A venue spokesman said the casino was copping the blame for assaults that occurred nearby but had nothing to do with the property.

But BOCSAR director Don Weatherburn said the bureau simply took crimes as police recorded them and had nothing to do with how they are classified.
He said the assaults around The Star would be dealt with at length in a special report being released next week.
