Carer charged with raping disabled woman

A Port Macquarie man has been charged with raping a mentally impaired woman while she was in his care.

NSW Police arrested the 62-year-old carer on Wednesday morning and charged him with the aggravated sexual assault of a 38-year-old cognitively impaired woman in October 2018.

The carer was also charged with having sexual intercourse with the woman and aggravated indecent assault.

The man was granted bail on Wednesday and is due to appear at Port Macquarie Local Court court in early February.
