British ski teacher admits NSW sex attack

A British man who was working as a ski instructor in the NSW Snowy Mountains has admitted committing a violent sex attack on a woman and assaulting her male friend.

Matthew James Williams, 29, pleaded guilty in Queanbeyan Local Court on Tuesday to aggravated sexual assault, inflicting actual bodily harm with intent to have sexual intercourse and possessing a prohibited drug.

Three other assault charges against him were withdrawn.

Williams approached the woman and man, both in their 20s, in the early hours of July 5 in 2018 as they were walking on Kosciuszko Road in Jindabyne after leaving a licensed premises.

His victims were treated by paramedics for facial injuries and taken to hospital where they were later released.

The British national, who was working at Perisher ski resort, was arrested outside a nearby unit five days later.

Williams remains in custody and will face a sentence hearing at Goulburn District Court on May 6.
