Boy on bike hit by car in inner Sydney

A young boy has been taken to hospital with head injuries after being hit by a car while riding his bike in Sydney's inner east.

The accident happened just after 9am on the corner of Mitchell Road and Buckland Street, Alexandria, police said.

Paramedics were called to the scene after receiving reports a six-year-old boy had been hit by a car.

The boy has suffered facial and head injuries and has been taken to Sydney Children's Hospital in a serious condition, an ambulance spokeswoman said.
