Missing Sydney girl has run away before

An 11-year-old girl missing from her North Bondi home has a history of disappearing and had argued with a family member before slipping away.

But Michelle Levy only ever left for "very short periods" and went to the homes of other family members, Detective Inspector Simon Glasser told reporters on Sunday.

"We have concerns for her welfare due to her age," he said.

"There may have been an argument between Michelle and one of her family members before she left the house."

Michelle was last seen by her parents at their Glenayr Avenue home about 6.30pm on Saturday.

She was wearing a white party dress with black, orange and yellow flowers on it and a black sash.

Despite extensive searches of the area, she still hasn't been found.

Investigators have also spoken to Michelle's school, friends and family.

"We've been patrolling areas that she may have been to and frequents," Det Insp Glasser said.

Authorities don't believe Michelle was kidnapped.

"Police aren't looking at this as an abduction," Det Insp Glasser said.

"Michelle ... both the police and your family are concerned. You are not in trouble and we'd like you to contact police."

Investigators are appealing for help to find the slender young girl who is about 150cm tall with long red hair, blue eyes and freckles.

Her father Adam made an emotional plea for his daughter to return.

"Everyone just wants you to be safe, to come home and be with your family," he said.

"Just please come home as soon as possible, everyone's very worried."

The search continues.
