Bank teller charged over $400,000 theft

A middle-aged bank teller accused of stealing more than $400,000 from the accounts of seven elderly customers has been charged.

The 51-year-old woman, who worked at Castle Hill in Sydney's northwest, allegedly took $429,185 between January 2013 and April 2015 and was on Thursday charged with with larceny as a clerk and seven counts of obtaining benefit by deception.

The customers have been repaid by the bank and the teller is due before Parramatta Local Court on September 9.
