Baird to launch campaign

Mike Baird will officially launch the Liberals' election campaign in Sydney's CBD, as opposition leader Luke Foley seeks to crash the party with an anti privatisation rally.

With just seven days to go before the election, the premier will launch his campaign at the City Recital Hall, Angel Place, on Sunday morning before party faithful and luminaries - including Prime Minster Tony Abbott and former PM John Howard.

Sunday will mark one of the few occasions Mr Baird and Mr Abbott have campaigned together during the NSW election, with the federal coalition continuing to languish in the polls.

Mr Foley will spend the morning in Burwood, in Sydney's inner west, where he'll attend a community "save our schools and hospitals" rally aimed at stopping the partial privatisation of the state's electricity network.

Labor has in recent days upped pressure on Mr Baird, after the premier admitted his office called investment firm UBS to complain about a note to investors which said his plan for partial privatisation of the state's electricity network would be "bad for the budget".

Labor treasury spokesman Michael Daley on Saturday said Labor and the Shooters and Fishers Party will move to establish an Upper House inquiry to investigate events surrounding the reissued UBS research report when parliament resumes in May.
